12 Earth and Space Science 1

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Sam Dockery.

Students will:
•Develop a scientific understanding of aspects of geology and astronomy. This includes the effects of tectonics and their link to natural disasters as well as life cycles of stars and the formation of solar systems. Aspects of biology are related to living in an extreme environment as well as using microscopes.
•Be recommended to continue with Level 3 Earth and Space Science

Students will sit 91160 which only has levels of achievement up to Merit.


Prerequisites

From 11SI1 General Science: Achieved or higher in all three of the Acids and Bases MCEA, Genetics MCEA and the Mechanics NCEA assessments.

From 11SD1 Double Science: Achieved or higher in all three of the Chemical reactions MCEA, Mammals End of topic test and the Electricity, Magnetism and Waves MCEA assessments.
