13 Performance Physical Ed. 1

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Kate Inwood.

This course is designed to further extend your knowledge and understanding of physical education concepts. If you are interested in a future pathway in the sports science/health/fitness industry this course is for you! 

Students will develop their understanding of Physical Education concepts through the following units of work:

  • Students will trial a variety of training strategies to train for a 3 day Surf Camp.
  • Students will complete a performance improvement programme to prepare themselves for the completion of the MAGS Yr 13 Aquathon (swim 400m, run 3.2km). 
  • Students will examine and critically discuss the impact of a self selected physical activity event, trend or issue in Aotearoa. 
  • Students will also compete in a Turbo Touch tournament to demonstrate their performance ability.

Despite this course not having external standards, you can still endorse in this subject and is UE approved. 


Prerequisites

At least 15 credits in Level 2 PE Performance (12PF1).

Including Merit in 2.8 Social Responsibility (91334) and an Achieved grade in 2.5 Significance of a sporting Event (91331)

OR HoD approval.
