If they are attempting Drama Scholarship they must perform as a monologue by themselves. The extract can be from a variety of theatre-forms, including Shakespeare, Naturalism, and Pasifika/Māori Theatre.

Devising (without credits)

Students will create, refine and develop a solo short play centered around the life of a person from history. They may choose to select someone well-known or someone from their own life. They will use drama conventions to craft a performance which showcases an aspect of this person's identity.

Directing

A limited number of students will be eligible to direct an excerpt from a play of their choosing. They will select students to play the characters, and be responsible for designing and sourcing all of the technologies.

Script Writing

Students will write a mid-length (approx 20-30 minute) play based in a specific place and time in history. They will be required to research and brainstorm the historical and social context of the time to inform the creation of their play and their characters. Attempting this project requires solid skills in written and spoken English. Students are required to work alone for this assessment, but are allowed to gather feedback from others.

Theatreform

Students will study the form of Absurdism and work either solo, in pairs or small groups to perform an extract from Absurdist play. They will need to use the provided resources to research and implement their understanding of Absurdism into their performance.
