Course Description

Prerequisites

At least 20 credits in Level 2 Design (12DS1) 

Students who have followed a Year 12 Visual Art class (Painting and Photography) will likely be granted entry but approval for this must go through HoD (CRK)

OR HoD approval



This course teaches students the fundamentals of visual design. This includes idea development, design processes and the exploration of common design conventions.     

  • It prepares students for further study and careers in design-related fields such as Graphic Design, Spacial Design, Package Design, Architecture, UI Design. 
  •  The focus of the year’s work is contemporary visual design. Students will typically attempt design problems that involve corporate identity, typographic layout, graphic design, illustration or comic design. Moving image folios can also be submitted for the external.
  •  The final submission of work is presented on a three-panel portfolio or short 3 minute movie. 
  • Scholarship in Design can be done in this subject alongside the normal course but requires a consistent level of commitment. Those submitting for Scholarship do an additional 8x A3 Pages workbook.
